  • The Department of Student Life & Leadership (SLL) is a student's hub for campus engagement and involvement. SLL brings together student organizations, student leaders, volunteers, and activities under one mission. Being involved at UCCS allows students to enrich their academic and social experience, while also finding life-long friends and community.

SLL's primary areas of focus are student organizations, sororities and fraternities, leadership programs, student government, student media, new student transition, student activities, volunteer opportunities and student employment. However, our reach extends beyond those programs, as we are a student-led department that is supported by staff. We always remain open to feedback, available to meet, and willing to assist. We strive to ensure all of our programs, services, and functions help create inclusive communities and an overall sense of belonging.

Visit the SLL website to learn more about:

Support and Guidance

  • UCCS is leading the way in collegiate wellness by having Campus Recreation, Health Services, Mental Health Services, Nutrition Services, and Wellness Promotion together in the expanded Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center. This innovative model provides integrated and collaborative services and programming to help enhance students' health and wellness.
    • Wellness Center is currently offering in-person appointments, as well as telehealth appointments for students residing in Colorado. Learn more HERE or call (719) 255-4444.
      • If you are having a medical or mental health emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to an emergency room as we are unable to attend to emergencies. A list of local urgent cares and emergency rooms can be found HERE.

  • Basic Needs Support can be defined as the essentials an individual needs to live a safe and healthy life. Basic Needs insecurity occurs when we don't have access to those essentials. When students aren't able to meet their basic needs, they aren't receiving equal access to a UCCS education.

The purpose of UCCS Basic Needs Support is to foster community wellbeing and safety by supporting under-resourced students and providing resources referrals and education on basic needs security to the UCCS Community.

Our focus areas are housing, food, transportation, and healthcare. While these are our current focus areas, we understand that basic needs encompass so much more and can assist with other insecurities as well.

You can schedule a meeting for yourself with the Basic Needs Coordinator or make a referral for someone else. Please visit our Contact or Referrals page for more information.

  • Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team addresses concerns related to students’ safety and wellbeing, and we support students in times of challenge and crisis. The CARE Team assesses and responds to reported concerns or disruptions, we create access to resources for students to maintain their safety, health, and well-being, and we evaluate whether individuals pose a risk to themselves or others.

UCCS cares about our students' holistic development and wellness. We believe that if a student is to be successful academically, support must also be given on an emotional, social, physical, and intellectual basis. If you believe a student may be struggling in any of these areas or may present a health or safety risk, please refer them to the CARE Team. Learn more HERE.

  • Religious Accommodations. A religious accommodation is any adjustment to the academic environment that allows students to practice one’s religion, unless such an accommodation would create an undue hardship for the university. To determine whether you are eligible for a religious accommodation under the provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Office of the Dean of Students will engage in an interactive process to understand the needs of the student. Accommodations vary and are considered on a case-by-case basis. Learn more HERE
