Director Student Outreach Communications

Bio

Ellen Burkart has been with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs since November 2007.

Ellen started her career at UCCS as an administrative assistant in the Psychology Department. While she enjoyed her time in the Psychology Department, she learned she was driven by helping students to find their place within the university and reach their goals. She has spent most of her time at UCCS in the Office of Student and Family Connections (formerly First Year Experience and Student Retention) where she took pride in her work developing, coordinating, and implementing initiatives to help students and their families navigate their college journey.

In her role as the Director for Student Outreach Communications, Ellen looks forward to developing and coordinating strategies to communicate with students in ways that help them to feel more connected to, and more successful in, their college journey.

Ellen holds both a Master of Science degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry with a Business Concentration from Colorado State University.

Outside of work, you can find Ellen spending time with her family, spending time outdoors, co-leading a Girl Scouts troop, reading a good book, or crafting.
